It’s the time of year Americans and fried-food junkies love: State Fair time. It’s a time to put that healthy meal plan/exercise diet plan on hold and let your inhibitions run wild in the form of foods on sticks, food wrapped in bacon and fried things with cheese wrapped in more bacon.
Many of our guests and team members enjoy their local state fairs during the fall, and we love seeing the creativity and genius that most fair food exemplifies. Fuzzy’s Taco Shop doesn’t have its own state fair, but if we did, it’d be pretty fair-tastic. Think about it: all your Fuzzy’s favorites turned into over-the-top fair versions of themselves. Something along these lines…
Fried Tacos
Duh. We’d have every single variety of Fuzzy’s taco dipped in batter and fried to crispy perfection. People will drive hundreds of miles to hold these Mexican marvels in their grasp. Maybe douse those bad boys in some habanero ranch or some Sriracha-infused sour cream. Oh man, that’s making our mouths water. Need to move on.
Bacon Balls
We at the Fuzzy’s State Fair have another zany treat to thrill guests: corn and guacamole wrapped in bacon and fried. You’ll be tempted to stay at this food stand all day and use up all your food coupons, but, alas, there’s more you still need to uncover.
Bacon Beer-rita
In honor of the 2015 Texas State Fair’s “Most Creative” award winner, the Smoky Bacon Margarita, we’d like to put our own stamp on this delectable (and potentially artery clogging) concoction. Start with one of Fuzzy’s signature margaritas, sprinkle it with crispy bacon bits and finish it off with an overturned beer sticking out the top.
Chicken-Fried Quesadillas
Mmm-mmm! Now we’re cooking. Quesadillas with chicken-fried steak, cheese and tomatoes inside, then chicken-fried on the outside. You may need a fork and knife to enjoy this one—and three sides of sour cream for good measure.
Queso Cake
Still figuring out logistics on this, but we’re thinking lava cake with queso instead of chocolate. You’re going to need napkins. Lots of napkins.
Beer-Battered Nachos
Each tortilla chip is slathered in a Mexican beer batter before being fried and served beneath pulled pork, sour cream, tomatoes, cheese and guacamole. Seriously, can someone please invent this?
Deep-Fried Jumbo Burrito
This certainly isn’t for the faint of heart or anyone with a history of hypertension. The nickname for this could aptly be “The Undertaker.” Take a Fuzzy’s Jumbo Burrito, with everything on it, fry it and drizzle it in avocado crema. Devour.
Hopefully we didn’t get you too excited for the Fuzzy’s State Fair. Until it’s a real thing, make sure to get out and enjoy everything your state fair has to offer—just make sure to save some room for Fuzzy’s on the way home!
